Paleo Soup Recipes
The time has come to forget about those tinned and packet soups if you want to stick to the Paleo way of eating. Not everyone has a three or four course meal everyday, but for those that do we need some Paleo soup recipes. There are also those who prefer a light lunch which sometimes includes soup.
As we are allowed to eat many vegetables and also fresh free range meat then there are a multitude of soups we can make.
As chicken soup seems to be a favorite with many people we will go over the basic recipe. Add seasonal vegetables to 2 lbs of chicken. Sauté the onions and garlic for a few minutes on a low to medium heat. Add the seasonal vegetables and chicken to the pot and cover with water. Bring to the boil and simmer for 2-3 hours.
As the vegetables change through the seasons so this recipe can change to use those vegetables. This makes a good base for many Paleo soup recipes.
Other meats or broths/stocks can be used with good effect, to give you a good range of soup recipes containing meat. You can alter the flavor of any of the soups by adding herbs or spices to the mix.
You can make many Paleo soup recipes with just vegetables or vegetable stock and some herbs or spices. As with any recipe it pays to experiment with flavors especially when it comes to adding herbs and spices. Pick out your favorite flavor and add it to any of your soups to add some variety to your recipes.
One thing I haven’t mentioned yet is fish soup. This is one thing you either love or hate, but it does increase your repertoire and so increases you number of Paleo soup recipes.
A good soup can be the making of a meal so make sure you find a flavor that the whole family not only likes but also enjoys. That little bit of spice or herb can also be the difference between an alright soup and a great soup.
