Paleo Shopping List
Once you have made your paleo diet menu for the coming week then you need to make your paleo shopping list.
If you are just starting out on this diet then there are quite a lot of groceries you need to buy that will last a little while. If you are serious about the paleo diet then you need to empty your cupboards, fridge and freezer of all the non paleo food that you have in them.
It is no good having temptation around you. We all know how easy it is to fall by the wayside because we are just going to use up this that and the other that is lying around in cupboards getting close to its use by date.
This time clear all the non paleo food away and there will be nothing in the cupboards to give the initial temptation.
Your paleo shopping list will need to include some of the staples that are used in the diet as well as the food needed for the coming week. For example you will need:
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Balsamic vinegar
- Organic red/ white wine vinegar
- Coconut oil
- Espresso coffee
- Green tea
You will also need to get your meat, fish and vegetables for the week. Don’t forget to stock up on eggs. Depending on the size of your family I would suggest at least 3 dozen eggs.
Having seen some of the things cauliflower can be used for it would be advisable to stock up on this item. If you are new to the paleo diet then cauliflower can be used to substitute for mashed potato and rice. You will find recipes for these on the internet.
Your paleo shopping list should include things like 85% cocoa chocolate. This is quite bitter but it gives you a chocolate fix when you need it.
Don’t forget to keep a list of foods you are not allowed to eat. When you are buying foods that include other ingredients, you will need to check that the ingredient list doesn’t include items on your banned list. If you find items on your banned list in the ingredients then have a look around for similar items that do not include these ingredients or find a recipe and make it yourself.
